Christmas Cove & St. John

We got the sail back on Friday and left on Sunday for Christmas Cove.  We knew they had free mooring balls here and we have been dying to mark our chain. We can't mark it when we are at anchor because it is in the water, so we needed a mooring ball or a dock. We left Sunday mid-morning and sailed 5 miles east to Christmas Cove. Unfortunately all the moorings were taken and we had to drop anchor. We took the paddleboards out and hung out on the beach skipping rocks the rest of the day. The next morning a few boats left and we were able to pick up a mooring. We spread the chain out on the front of the boat, let it dry, and then marked every 10 feet with paint and zip ties. We then took the paddleboards out again and snorkeled the rest of the day in the clearest water.  We saw tons of fish, millions of sea urchins, and a few barracuda.  This cove was a great place to recharge our batteries and enjoy living on a boat. It was hard to leave Christmas Cove, but we need to head east to make it to St. Kitts by Sunday to meet my parents.  Today we sailed to Cruz Bay on St. John's island to stop at the post office, grocery store, and pizza for lunch. We left there around 2:00 and sailed to Grand Lameshur Bay. Of course we took the paddleboards out again. We are now almost to the east coast of St. John's and will be leaving before dawn for St. Kitts. We should have a great day of sailing tomorrow with winds east north east. Hopefully we will only need to tack once! We figure it will take somewhere around 30 hours. This of course all depends if the weatherman is telling the truth..........

  4. That fish doesn't look like he likes company. I had to study that picture of Lucy resting her chin on a toy? At first I thought she was snarling. Each place you stop is so great, it would be hard to travel on.
